Monkeys Give Us Bananas!

Back when Caroline was two or three years old, we were discussing how eggs come from chickens, milk comes from cows, etc. She deducted that bananas come from monkeys, and so any time somebody said anything about chickens giving us eggs, she would announce, "Monkeys give us bananas!" ...probably because she knew we'd laugh when she said this!

So, today Chris mentioned to Caroline that she should approach our chickens calmly (she was running around waving a pool noodle over her head) because we didn't want to scare them and make them not lay eggs (no, they still haven't actually begun laying yet). She asked if they could really get so scared that they wouldn't be able to give eggs. He told her that sometimes that can happen to an animal - it could get startled so much that it wouldn't be able to lay eggs, or in the case of a cow, give milk. Caroline said, "And if pigs got scared, they wouldn't give bacon!"
