Pentecost 2013

This year for Pentecost (celebrated May 19th this year), we made these yummy cookies (instead of our usual Pentecost birthday cupcakes) with mostly red M & M's (I had to also include some brown ones and some chocolate chips to make up the difference after running out of red!), since red is the liturgical color for the Solemnity of Pentecost.  There are thirteen cookies, one each for the 12 apostles and Mary (whose cookie has a few blue M & M's on it) who were praying in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended upon them.  The lit candles represent the tongues of fire which appeared over their heads.

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to the Church,
Happy Birthday to you!

Then a sound like a mighty wind filled the room!

Happy Birthday to our Church, and thank you Jesus for the gift of our Church!
